Have been too busy lately to update my blog, so I’m slowly trying to update it again.

I have about a month left until my contract is up so things are getting busy…packing, cleaning, teaching, farewells, etc.
I am going to a Japanese wedding this weekend. Am excited about that.

Our good friend Makiko is getting married and we have been invited to the wedding, reception and nijikai.
MCs Skye and Jeff will provide commentary in Japanese and English. It will be a small, private wedding of about 30 people.

Looking forward to getting dressed up, eating, drinking and being merry.

In other news, I’m also going to Hawaii next week, for one week. Hawaii ii na!
A week of sun and bumming around on the beach.
Going on my own. Late notice but any takers??

Will be nice and relaxing. Yay!

Ode to 仁亭

The best Tonkatsu restuarant and Koriyama’s best eating establishment is 仁亭

The experience begins with the wait.
A 45-minute to one-hour wait is standard.

The menu is cool - it is handwritten on a Japanese folding fan.

The most popular item on the menu is the とり仁亭かつ for 1600yen.

The culinary feast begins with the generous portion of salad with unlimited refill and the two special dressings.

Then the miso soup full of kinoko goodness.

Then the tonkatsu sauce. Ground up the sesame seeds first, and then add the tonkatsu sauce.

The main dish is brought out. A tender chicken fillet breaded and crumbed, filled inside with ham and cheese.

Topped off with unlimited bowls of rice. Rice, thus, completes the meal.
With a cup of tea at the end to help digestion.

All served by the owner of the restaurant. There is only him and one other guy in the kitchen. They don’t hire any staff, and the guy is always really busy. He also gave us a huge discount when we went there Saturday night.

Uber umai food that fills even the heartiest appetite including mine.
